Organic Sencha: Saemidori Cultivar from Kagoshima

Product Description: - Type of tea: Organic Sencha (not matcha) - Cultivar: Saemidori - Harvest: First harvest (spring) - Origin: Kagoshima prefecture, Japan

Storage: Store the tea in a cool, dry, and dark place. Light, moisture, heat, and strong odors can damage the quality of the leaves. Once the package is opened, please use the tea as soon as possible.

What makes this Saemidori Sencha unique? Saemidori sencha is a cross between the Yabukita and Asatsuyu cultivars, inheriting the balance of Yabukita and the delicateness and color of Asatsuyu. This Japanese green tea is smoother and more flavorful than ordinary sencha, without compromising the body or brothiness of the liquor.

The tea is shaded for about a week, then steamed and dried after a kneading process. It is roasted less than typical sencha to preserve the elegant aroma of this high-quality tea leaf.

Brewing Instructions: - Use 1-2 tsp (2-4 g) of tea leaves per 150-200 ml of water at 176°F (80°C). - Brew for 1 minute. Do not use boiling water or brew the first cup for more than 1 minute, as this can result in an over-extracted or unpleasantly bitter tea. - Brew the second cup for no more than 30 seconds, as the leaves have already opened up.

The Advantages of Loose Leaf Tea: Loose leaf tea is superior to tea bags. The leaves used in most tea bags are typically the "dust and fannings" from broken tea leaves, compromising the quality compared to full leaf tea. Tea bags also release more tannins, resulting in bitter, astringent brews. The shape and size of the bags can also constrain the tea leaves, preventing them from expanding to their full flavor and aroma potential.

Our Promise: We commit to supplying you with the finest and freshest teas from Kagoshima at fair prices. We ship all our teas by express air freight to avoid the unpredictable environment associated with sea freight. Our teas are stored in temperature-controlled units in our U.S. warehouses before being shipped directly to you, never sitting on retail shelves.

In addition to Saemidori Sencha, we offer a wide selection of other premium Japanese green tea products, including Yabukita Hojicha, Akira Matcha, Oishi Matcha, and Amaya Matcha.
